Some extra info from DVSA

Current pass rate

In December 2024 the pass rate was 49.1% nationally.

When should i book my theory?

If you are starting as a beginner, then I would recommend revising for it before starting lessons or at least as you start and you would want to pass that ASAP as you can't book your practical tests until you have passed your theory

Driving test wait times

Current tests are around 6 months wait time at the moment. New test slots are generally released on a Monday morning at 06.00am

How many hours do i need to pass my test?

How many lessons you need will depend on how quickly you learn.

Research shows that, on average, it takes people 45 hours of driving lessons with a driving instructor plus 22 hours of private practice to pass their test. But those who manage 100 hours of driving lessons plus practice are much safer on the road after their test.

Research also shows that people who combine their driving lessons with private practice are 50% more likely to pass the driving test.
